Fifth Grade Homeroom Teacher
Sidwell Friends School, a co-educational Quaker day school, is seeking a 5th Grade Homeroom Teacher who supports the Quaker philosophy of the school. The role involves teaching language arts, social studies, and math, while also serving as a liaison between home and school, establishing relationships with families, and collaborating with a team of teachers.

Responsibilities
Teaching language arts, social studies, and math in a homeroom setting
Serving as the liaison between home and school
Establishing relationships with families
Planning with a team of teachers
Monitoring student progress
Writing student reports
Preparing for and leading parent-teacher conferences
Involved in the life of the school in various ways, including attendance at meetings
Communicating and collaborating with students, colleagues, and families
Taking on additional responsibilities such as lunch and break duties
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required and must be conferred by the position's start date
Skilled in teaching language arts, social studies, and math
Proven track record of helping shepherd transitions with students and families
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates the ability to understand the age group and is excited about working with children from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with other teachers
Ability to work in-person Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
Preferred
Advanced degree preferred
Experience teaching upper elementary or early middle school is preferred
A sense of humor and understanding of the age group
A flexible and growth oriented mindset around pedagogy and the needs of young middle school-aged students
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Passionate collaborator who enjoys moving a program forward
