Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain AWS configuration management processes, policies, and standards
Build, deploy, and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management
Manage and optimize Dev, Test, Stage, and Production environments with strong consistency and security controls
Automate and govern AWS resources such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and ACM
Support and enhance automation pipelines using AWS CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline
Partner with DevOps teams to support deployments, rollbacks, configuration updates, and environment readiness
Ensure smooth and reliable release cycles across multiple environments
Design and maintain automated AWS Backup solutions aligned with state retention policies
Implement automated patching workflows to maintain security and compliance posture
Perform periodic audits of configuration, patch levels, backups, and certificates; recommend and implement improvements
Manage installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services
Ensure secure communication standards aligned with state and federal security requirements
Maintain detailed documentation of configuration baselines, IaC standards, Terraform modules, and environment changes
Provide training and guidance on Terraform, AWS best practices, backup strategies, patch automation, and certificate management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent professional experience, training, or certifications)
8+ years of configuration management experience, including:
Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
Cloud backup solutions and automated patching
SSL/TLS certificate management and cloud security best practices
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and diagnostic ability
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments
Highly organized with strong planning and execution skills
Preferred
Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
AWS and/or Terraform certifications
Experience working in state or local government environments
Vendor oversight or management experience
Familiarity with Agile delivery tools
Experience with Organizational Change Management (OCM)
