Open Talent is a VC-backed, revenue-generating Fintech AI startup in NYC, seeking a Founding CTO to lead their technical direction and build out the early engineering team. The role involves architecting LLM-driven Fintech systems and defining the technical strategy for their innovative platform that automates complex financial data pipelines.

Responsibilities

Define & execute the end-to-end technical strategy across the LLM stack
Architect core systems in TypeScript (Node, React) & Python (FastAPI, LangChain, vLLM)
Drive improvements in retrieval, context precision & evaluation reliability
Build secure data ingestion pipelines & scalable financial data APIs
Partner with founders on roadmap, product strategy & infrastructure evolution
Hire & mentor a small, world-class founding engineering team
Establish an engineering culture focused on speed, rigour & clarity

Required

0-1 startup experience is critical - ideally with SF or NYC companies that have already raised a Series A you were a part of
Deep hands-on experience building & shipping LLM or GenAI products
Strong knowledge of retrieval, evaluation, embeddings, & observability
Fluency in TypeScript + Python, with solid cloud architecture experience (AWS/GCP)
Background in data-intensive systems or infra-heavy Fintech products
Experience hiring & leading teams in high-growth, early-stage environments
Degree in Computer Science or related field (top-tier or equivalent experience)
Startup 0-1 experience is essential
Exp. in a 0-1 start up environment
Exp. raising an A
Willingness to be equity heavy
