8+ years expEthire llc is seeking a Senior Software Configuration / Release Engineer responsible for designing, automating, and maintaining cloud configuration and release processes across AWS environments. This role involves collaboration with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure reliable cloud automation and compliance.

Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain configuration management standards and policies across AWS environments
Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of AWS resources
Ensure consistency, security, and compliance across Dev, Test, Stage, and Production environments
Manage AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and ACM
Support CI/CD automation using AWS CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline
Partner with DevOps teams to manage releases, deployments, rollbacks, configuration updates, and environment readiness
Ensure stable and repeatable release processes across cloud environments
Design and maintain automated AWS backup solutions aligned with state data retention and compliance requirements
Implement automated patch management workflows to maintain security posture and regulatory compliance
Conduct audits of configurations, patch levels, backup integrity, and certificates; recommend and implement improvements
Manage installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services
Ensure secure communication standards and alignment with state and federal security requirements
Maintain detailed documentation for configuration baselines, Terraform modules, IaC standards, and environment changes
Provide guidance and training to team members on AWS infrastructure best practices, Terraform usage, patch automation, backups, and certificate management
Support governance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field OR equivalent professional experience
8+ years of configuration and infrastructure management experience, including:
Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
Proven experience with automated backup and patching solutions
Expertise in SSL/TLS certificate management and cloud security best practices
Preferred
Scripting experience using Python, Bash, or PowerShell
AWS and/or Terraform certifications
Experience working within state or local government environments
Familiarity with Agile delivery tools and project coordination
Experience with vendor oversight, documentation standards, or organizational change management (OCM)
