Responsibilities
Operates refuse trucks
Operates five types of sweepers in the operation of a scheduled sweeping program
Delivery of mulch or wood chips to citizens
Operates a leaf vacuum truck, or collection of bio-degradeable leaf bags on a scheduled route
Supervises a small crew in cleanup details or special events
Operates a snow plow and salt spreader
Operates a dump truck or loader in the removal of snow, debris and brush
Keeps equipment clean, makes minor repairs and reports any malfunctions of equipment to fleet management shop
Responds to citizen inquires regarding refuse and recycling services
Responds to emergency or special event activities as needed
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
At least three years of experience in performing semi-skilled/skilled maintenance or construction tasks
Knowledge of turf and/or grounds maintenance
Three years experience as a lead worker in any related trade
Possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License
Preferred
Completion of vocational training or apprenticeship level courses in any trade
Thorough knowledge and experience in a variety of semi-skilled/skilled maintenance or construction tasks
Thorough knowledge and use of related equipment and tools used in turf/grounds maintenance and/or construction field/trade
Five years experience as a lead worker or crew leader
Ability to work from written instructions, cut sheets and site plans
The ability to physically perform heavy manual labor and to lead subordinate crew in their assignments
