CDOC - Pharmacy Manager

NEOGOV is seeking a Pharmacy Manager for the Colorado Department of Corrections, located in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Pharmaceutical Program, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing pharmacy staff and services.

Responsibilities

Manage the legal/daily operations of the CDOC Pharmacy:
Compliance with FDA, DEA and State laws/regulations and CDOC Administrative Regulations affecting pharmacy practice in its entirety
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address data requests, perform legislative reviews, and other related tasks
Ensure pharmacy services are delivered in a timely and cost effective manner
Analyze and resolve pharmacy operational challenges
Manage contracts in accordance with State Fiscal and Purchasing Rules with pharmaceutical manufacturers, vendors & distributors
Ensure quality assurance standards are established and maintained
Evaluate daily work flow and recommend improvement processes
Provide direct line supervision of staff to include assisting with hiring, evaluating, advising, scheduling and managing grievances
Implement and provide administrative and operational management of the CDOC Formulary to include publication, dissemination and revision
Perform quarterly pharmacy audits and act as Pharmacist of Record with the Colorado Board of Pharmacy

Required

Applicant must have a current, valid licensure as a Pharmacist by the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy
Applicant must have three years work experience as a licensed pharmacist. Pharmacist experience will be in a retail, hospital, long-term care or correctional environment
Ability to meet pharmaceutical needs of offender populations incarcerated in correctional facilities
Knowledgeable in full-spectrum of pharmaceutical care, pharmacy operations and pharmacy budgeting & analysis
Ability to supervise and provide staff leadership to include staff development, mentoring, coaching and performance evaluation
Ability to adapt, innovate and lead in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and excellent organizational skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across facility programs and with both internal and external stakeholders
Leadership skills: ambitious, operationally-focused and results-driven
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and comprehend the English language
Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing
Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind
Self-control, a strong sense of ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations
Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure and observant throughout their shift
Tolerance to stress, confinement, and high-stakes interaction
Must be 21 years of age
Possess a valid driver's license
Possess a high school diploma or GED
Have NO felony convictions
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be appointed to this position
Successfully pass all modules of the Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training
Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics
Will be exposed to Oleoresin Capsicum during Basic Training and will be exposed while on assignment
Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety and security
Seize, hold, control or subdue violent or assaultive persons and defend oneself or others to prevent injury
Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently
Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person and/or restraint situations
Deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors, utilizing tactfulness and a congenial, personable manner
Work with people of the opposite sex, diverse racial ethnic groups, mentally ill and emotionally disturbed inmates
Communicate by talking, listening and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information, assignments
Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings
Willing and able to travel
Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule
TB (tuberculosis) screening is required of all new employees upon hire
Successful completion of a background investigation is required

Preferred

Graduated from college with a Doctorate of Pharmacy
Master in business administration (MBA) degree
Proven experience working in a managerial role in a pharmacy
One year or more of supervisory experience
