They are seeking a highly organized Family Law Legal Assistant to support attorneys in their family law department, assisting with document preparation, client communication, and case management.

Law Practice

Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation, drafting, and filing of family law documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, briefs, and client correspondence, in accordance with North Carolina court procedures
Support family law matters involving divorce, child custody, guardianships, equitable distribution, and domestic violence cases
Manage case calendars, deadlines, hearings, and appointments to ensure compliance with court requirements
Handle client and office communications, including phone calls, emails, correspondence with opposing counsel, and dictation as needed
Provide real-time interpretation during client meetings and assist with bilingual communication when necessary
Schedule meetings, court appearances, and depositions, and coordinate travel or logistics as required
Conduct basic legal research under the guidance of attorneys and paralegals
Maintain strict confidentiality and provide general administrative support to ensure smooth office operations

Required

Fluency in both English and Spanish, including the ability to accurately translate client communication
1–2 years of experience in a law firm or professional office environment
Strong writing, organizational, time-management, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask and work independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional demeanor with clients, attorneys, and court staff

Preferred

Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred; equivalent work experience accepted
Experience with legal case management and docketing software (Clio or similar preferred)
