Trauma Data Analyst

Catholic Health's St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is seeking a Trauma Data Analyst to manage the trauma registry and ensure compliance with state and national regulations. The role involves data collection, coding, analysis, and collaboration with performance improvement teams to maintain the accuracy of trauma data.

Responsibilities

Maintain 24 hours of trauma-related CE per year
Abstract data from medical records for inclusion in the trauma register database
Design and maintain database and spreadsheets as needed
Prepare reports based on data analysis and performance activities as needed
Perform data analysis and quality control reports on the trauma registry on a routine basis to ensure validity, accuracy, and completeness of data entry
Prepares reports based on research requests
Accurately codes procedures, diagnoses and injuries using ICD-10 coding, AIS injury coding, E dash codes and other appropriate coding schemes and accurately enters into trauma registry with departmental guidelines
Assists Trauma Program Manager with special products in the development of guidelines, etc
Assists in data preparation for the American College of Surgeons site visit
Assists in data preparation for the annual download to State and national trauma registries
Maintains professional development and current knowledge of standards and data sets of NTDB and State trauma registry dictionary
Independently works with trauma registry software and information technology
Collaborates with hospital data collection program

Required

High school diploma required
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding
Within 12 months of hire, must participate in and pass the AAAM's Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course, a trauma registry course and an ICD-10 coding course
Within 18 months of hire, must attain Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) certification
