Responsibilities

In partnership with the Chief Nursing Officer and Associate Chief Nursing Officer, formulates nursing education programming, consistent with current nursing education standards, regulatory requirements and desired model of care
In collaboration with ED, identifies HSL wide educational programming initiatives and coordinates training for identified priorities
Participates/leads work teams/committees to support effective educational programming of staff and students
Manages and meets budget targets
Fosters ongoing partnerships through innovative programming with external organizations including Universities, colleges, and vocational technical schools to engage students, create pipelines and encourage careers in geriatrics
Facilitates and coordinates the annual Academic Achievement event in collaboration with Development department and nursing leadership
Creates budgets for the Department of Professional Development and manages the use of educational resources in a cost-effective way
Develops and implements new hire orientation programs; develops related instructional materials for orientation, special training and new procedures
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the education plan for staff development
Provides leadership and oversight for the HSL Health Learning Management system including curriculum development and operational maintenance
Coordinates annual training for required programs for all HSL staff
Works collaboratively with Marcus Institute to ensure full compliance of educational grant initiatives when assigned to oversight
Oversees the coordination of the annual nursing scholarship program
Works with staff, managers, administration and colleagues to identify learning needs and implement appropriate education
Assists in the interpretation of regulations applicable to patient care/education (i.e. DPH, CMS, OSHA, CARF)
In partnership with the various multidisciplinary leaders, establishes education and person-centered programming using Age Friendly frameworks
In collaboration with a variety of HSL Management Team members, identifies staff developmental and training needs; make recommendations for work simplification and standardization of activities
Manages HSL’s Career Development Program including curriculum design, partnerships with external organizations, and graduation ceremony planning. Interviews and selects instructors and student applicants; plans and organizes a recruitment program for qualified students for HSL Career Ladder Program
Administrates the organizational-wide American Heart Association Training Center
In collaboration with housing site leaders, establishes educational priorities for budgeted programming (i.e. NBOC- AL- and CCB)
Facilitates the application of the principles of adult learning to education
Coaches and mentors’ staff. Evaluates performance and provides feedback and oversight of the professional development team
Direct the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepare periodic reports for administration and leadership as requested
Oversees and manages English language classes in conjunction with the Lunder CareForce Institute, including coordination and management of third-party vendors providing language instruction
Perform other related duties as assigned or as responsibilities dictate

Required

Bachelor's degree in Nursing with nursing leadership experience
5+ years of previous experience in a leadership role
Computer literacy required, understanding of Learning Management system preferred
Ability to plan, organize and direct large-scale and comprehensive nursing activities
Ability to supervise, train and motivate employees
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, medical personnel, employees, the public and other agencies
Successful completion of HSL orientation and competency tool
Completion of annual mandatory requirements including but not limited to; BASICS, infection control, elder abuse, and Privacy/Cybersecurity/Compliance

Preferred

Masters in Nursing Preferred
Prior experience creating leadership development programs highly desired
Understanding of Learning Management system preferred
