Responsibilities
Perform as a Forensic Examiner, providing forensic analysis for the Internet Crimes Against Children Section
Forensic examination of digital media submitted as part of a criminal investigation by the SCAG investigator or an ICAC affiliate agency. Prepares report with findings
Obtain search warrants when necessary. Ensure all required paperwork is received at the time of evidence submission. Maintain the evidence chain of custody/security
Maintaining forensic equipment and software to ensure operating at full capacity for forensic examinations
Testify in the prosecution of ICAC cases based on forensic examination findings
Support ICAC affiliates statewide with training, technical assistance, etc
Constable/Forensic training to be aware of emerging technologies and legal issues. Maintain required training hours for examiner certifications
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or Chief Deputy
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma and five (5) years experience conducting investigations or performing other law enforcement duties
A bachelor's degree in digital forensics, criminal justice, information technology or related field with one (1) year of experience conducting investigations or performing other law enforcement duties
A master's degree in digital forensics, criminal justice, information technology or related field may be substituted for the required work experience
Eligible candidates must reside in or be open to moving roughly 50 miles from Columbia, SC
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
Position may require overnight travel
May require presentations to law enforcement and the public
Preferred
Experienced using forensic products (i.e., EnCase, Cellebrite, Magnet (Axiom, IEF), write-blockers, etc.) and completing computer forensic training and certification
Must have experience developing and maintaining good working relationships with multiple law enforcement agencies
Must have good verbal and written skills and be able to communicate effectively
Must be well-organized with a demonstrated ability to work independently
Limited supervision; the employee is expected to promptly make supervisor aware of any issues, problems, or suggestions relating to job duties
