RF Machining and Fabrication Engineer

Responsibilities

Create, rework, and modify engineering components on CCAs, prototype sub-assemblies, completed assemblies, cables, harness systems, and perform necessary repairs by reading and accurately following schematics, prints, sketches, and written or verbal instructions
Fabricate, repair, and replace mechanical and electrical components, including harnesses, cables, chassis, breakout boxes, test boxes, and electrical supply boxes, as well as performing work on antennas
Utilize tools and equipment such as mills, lathes, chop saws, sheet metal presses, and 3D printers for the design, layout, and fabrication of engineering parts and assemblies
Identify failures, isolate problems, and recommend corrective actions to ensure quality and functionality of components and systems
Collaborate with engineering teams to provide support and feedback, while reporting potential risks or issues that may impact program schedules or quality
Development, testing, and repair of critical engineering systems and components

Required

Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree or a minimum of 2 years' prior relevant experience, to include any combination of the following:
Experience assisting in the operation of a machine shop in a lab environment performing cable and harness assembly, fabrication, and rework
Experience reading and following engineering prints, schematics, sketches, and verbal or written instructions, including test procedures
Experience using tools such as lathes, mills, band saws, grinders, drill press, soldering irons, wire strippers, cutters, and electric heat guns
Experience with soldering, mechanical processes, quality standards, documentation, and / or the safe use of lab chemicals
Experience with verification and inspection processes, including associated standards and documentation
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Active and existing security clearance required on day 1

Preferred

Experience with CCA manufacturing, including fabrication standards, processes, documentation, and assembly or rework of circuit card assemblies
IPC J-STD-001 solder certification, along with IPC 610 and 620 acceptability certification and inspection experience
Proficiency in 3D printing and its application to engineering tasks
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced engineering environment, whether working independently or collaboratively as a motivated self-starter
Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish customer priorities, manage multiple tasks effectively, and exercise good judgment
