Court Navigator/Probation Officer

NEOGOV is seeking a Court Navigator/Probation Officer for the Broomfield Municipal Court. This dual-role position involves connecting individuals with community resources and providing court-ordered supervision for probation cases.

Responsibilities

Connects individuals to services aimed at assisting those within the Broomfield Community who are dealing with mental health, substance abuse, homelessness and basic needs insecurities
Utilizes motivational interviewing, stages of change, strengths-based case management, housing first, and trauma-informed care
Serves as probation officer for those cases that require court ordered supervision
Participate in county and regional oversight committees to provide feedback on current community services and to identify and propose the expansion of services to address service gaps
The incumbent connects targeted clients with service providers and assists clients in identifying resources necessary to progress toward addressing underlying mental health, substance abuse, housing and food insecurities and other barriers, and/or completion of the terms and conditions of a sentence
The incumbent conducts assessments, writes reports, formulates case plans with the clients, facilitates continuity of care, and reports findings
This includes detailed data entry to track individual client needs and progress
Motivates and manages the clients probation period using a continuum of sanctions and incentives
When appropriate, recommends extension or termination of probation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies
Conduct inventory of existing resources for targeted populations to identify gaps in local services, as determined by reference to model programs and best practices

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field
2 years experience providing direct client services
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment
Must pass pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check, sex-offender registry and DMV check
Cannot have been convicted of a felony or disqualifying misdemeanor as per NCIC/CCIC policy

Preferred

Strong background in social work, probation supervision, or mental health services
Ability to work collaboratively with prosecutors, defense attorneys, and municipal court staff as well as independently
Collaborative focused approach with ability to build relationships with community partners and connect individuals with those resources
