Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage SQL Server databases across hybrid cloud environments
Lead and execute database migration projects to Azure SQL and Managed Instances
Optimize and maintain Azure-based data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and SSIS
Monitor and tune performance using Azure Monitor, SSMS, and related telemetry tools
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery using Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Clustering
Automate recurring maintenance and operational tasks
Secure data through encryption, role-based access control, and auditing
Support and troubleshoot Business Central schema and extensions (AL code/table changes)
Analyze performance issues across Business Central tenants and integrations
Manage schema upgrades during Business Central version migrations
Provide expert support for escalated database incidents and participate in on-call rotations
Collaborate closely with ERP, DevOps, and application teams to align on schema and performance standards
Qualification
Required
5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience, including hybrid or Azure-native deployments
Proven ability to support Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instances, and Microsoft Fabric
Experience with Business Central schemas (e.g., Sales Header, G/L Entry) and AL extension analysis
Familiarity with CI/CD practices for schema changes and deployment pipelines
Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills (query plans, indexing, etc.)
Experience with integration technologies (ADF, SSIS, Dataverse, Power Platform)
Deep knowledge of data security, backup/restore strategies, and telemetry monitoring
Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work independently
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and lightly documented environments
Preferred
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (or similar)
Business Central (on-prem and cloud) support experience
Familiarity with OAuth, token-based authentication, and API security
Experience supporting schema changes via AL/DevOps pipelines
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
