Responsibilities

Serve as Interim Compliance Coordinator for a large K-12 school district, ensuring compliance with federal and applicable state civil rights laws and guidance
Act as intake and triage point for reports involving student and staff Title IX sex-based discrimination and sexual harassment; Title VI race, color, and national origin discrimination; Section 504 and ADA disability discrimination, other civil rights matters
Oversee investigations conducted by external investigators, ensuing investigations are prompt, impartial, equitable and compliant with the law and district policy
Coordinate with decision-makers and appellate officers
Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with documentation and retention requirements
Serve as primary and secondary point of contact for parents and guardians regarding Title IX and civil rights matters

Required

JD
Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, criminal justice, legal studies, or a related field
1-2 years of relevant experience in investigation, compliance, student services, or a related area
Understanding of Title IX, FERPA, 504 and IEPs, and other related federal and state regulations (training will be provided)
Experience working in a K-12 or Higher education setting involving Title IX or civil rights- considerations include serving as an Investigator, Deputy Coordinator, Coordinator and/or intake specialist
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively with diverse populations, including with minor children
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage confidential information
Ability to remain neutral, professional, and empathetic during emotionally charged situations
Proficient in Google suite and comfortable with case management systems

Preferred

Experience working in a K-12 or higher education setting
Prior Title IX and Title VI training or certification
Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus
Experience and passion for Title IX and civil rights training
