Responsibilities

Process payroll actions to make sure employees are paid correctly and on time
Review payroll work carefully to ensure accuracy
Research and fix payroll and leave issues on your own when needed
Explain payroll rules and policies clearly to employees and supervisors
Follow DOH, State HR, OFM, union agreements, and state and federal payroll requirements
Respond to employment verification requests
Protect employee confidentiality and sensitive payroll information
Keep payroll files organized and up to date according to record requirements

Required

One (1) or more years of experience in payroll and/or benefits regarding payroll rules, rights, regulations, policies, procedures, programs and services; AND One (1) or more years of experience resolving and responding to customer inquiries and problems with payroll and/or timekeeping actions and resolving issues with internal payroll processes and systems
One (1) or more years as a Fiscal Technician 2 or higher performing payroll and timekeeping actions and/or benefits-related functions

Preferred

Ability to accurately input data and produce reports from Washington's Human Resource Management System (HRMS) or Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) or similar government payroll or accounting systems
18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting
