Responsibilities
Assists with Open Records Request responses
Conducts initial interview with complainant to create preliminary investigation plan to determine jurisdiction, verify the incident, and collects evidentiary documentation
Assesses laws and ordinances regarding hate crimes and/or discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations, and other protected areas to determine if the presence of unlawful discrimination has occurred
Initiates steps to file discrimination complaints with local, state, and federal enforcement agencies, as appropriate
Evaluates client intakes and provides resource/referrals, as appropriate
Compiles information and follows up with potential clients as needed for complaint processing
Prepares correspondence and summary of allegations following federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations that is required by workshare agreements
Represents the department in outreach events
Participates in Employment and Fair Housing related trainings as mandated with the workshare agreements of the federal agencies
Provides general administrative support for the office by receiving, directing, and processing incoming calls, emails, and walk-in clients as required
Performs related work as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Social Science, Law or related discipline
One (1) year of office administration, customer service, or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
