Responsibilities
Collecting information, contacting sales, account managers, agents, and other parties as appropriate to clarify and correct inconsistent, incorrect or missing group health application information
Researching, investigating risk for group health insurance prospects and renewals and associated underwriting documentation, involving group health insurance
Evaluating, classifying risks and setting terms/rates for approval, modification or reasons for rejection
Resolving customer problems involving group health insurance
Providing on-going support to experienced underwriters regarding all group health insurance processes and products to both assist underwriting task completion and improve individual process and product proficiency
Must pass a math test
Qualification
Required
Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Effective analytical, planning, interpersonal, organizational and research skills
Must pass a math test
Preferred
Experience with Medical Stop-Loss and/or financial underwriting
Actuarial and/or financial management experience
Experience supporting group healthcare underwriting functions within major health insurance organizations
Passion for predictive analytics (including leveraging generative and/or agentic AI tools)
