Material Planning Engineer – NPI

Applix is seeking a Material Planning Analyst – NPI to support a New Product Introduction program for a major manufacturing client in Decatur, IL. Responsibilities

Plan material requirements for prototype, pilot, and production builds
Review build schedules and identify material needs for NPI programs
Coordinate with suppliers and issue purchase orders
Track open orders and inbound shipments; resolve delays and shortages
Work closely with engineering, procurement, and production teams to support builds
Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and shelf-life tracking
Develop and update replenishment strategies (PFEP) as production ramps up
Analyze material demand and consumption data
Report material availability, inventory status, and risks to build schedules
Support standard work and continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow

Required

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Practical experience in material planning, logistics, or supply-chain operations
Familiarity with manufacturing environments and new product introduction (NPI) processes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
Experience working with SAP or other MRP/ERP systems
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred

Experience supporting prototype or pilot builds in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and material planning parameters
Experience with engineering change processes
Familiarity with SAP Mach1 or similar logistics systems
Experience working with suppliers in heavy equipment or complex manufacturing environments
2+ years of technical school, an associate's degree, and/or equivalent hands-on experience
