Compliance Officer

The Texas Bankers Association (TBA) is the largest and oldest state banking organization in the country, providing advocacy, education, and services to member banks. Responsibilities

Develop and implement compliance model required for a bank to operate within acceptable standards
Liaison with senior managers to ensure proper implementation of established compliance policies
Review internal bank policies to ensure they align with external banking regulations and the Boards risk appetite
Conduct research to identify new regulations passed by state or federal regulators
Monitor banks activities to ensure they are legal and in compliance with internal and external bank policies
Collaborate with other departments such as the risk management or internal audit to forward compliance issues for investigation
Initiate or recommend an investigative process in response to complaints of policy or procedural violation
Develop systems for the handling and resolution of policy violation
Conduct internal monitoring prior to an external audit to ensure bank policies and operations are up to standard
Monitor the operations and procedures of the different sections of a bank to ensure overall compliance
Carry out assessments to identify areas of potential compliance risks in order to implement preventive/corrective strategies to address compliance issues
Provide reports on a regular basis to senior management to keep them updated on progress of compliance operations
Organize compliance programs to educate bank staff on recent and already existing compliance requirements

Required

Applicants should have held a consumer compliance position in a FDIC insured financial institution and have experience supporting consumer financial product compliance and an understanding of regulations applicable to BSA, deposit and lending transactions
Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience is required
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience within consumer banking
Extensive knowledge of banking regulatory compliance management system elements, with product advisory and/or monitoring experience desirable
Extensive knowledge of federal and state deposit, lending and payments compliance laws and regulations
Must have strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong research, project management, organizational, analytical, and problem resolution skills
Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager designation required
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills are required
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications required
