Street Technician I - IV

They are seeking a Street Technician I-IV to perform semi-skilled to skilled labor in public works maintenance and construction, operating various vehicles and equipment while ensuring safety and compliance with city standards.

Demonstrate safe operation of equipment, materials, and methods used in general public works maintenance, construction, and repair, especially those related to Streets Division

Demonstrate knowledge of department policies and procedures and work safety rules and procedures
Demonstrate knowledge in filling out all proper paper for documentation to include daily paperwork and incident reports
Accurately follow verbal and written instructions
Safely use all tools vehicles and other equipment, materials, and supplies
Wear personal protection equipment such as hardhat, steel toed boots, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves and ear protection
Operates a variety of heavy and light construction equipment, including: Tandem and single axle dump trucks, Snowplows and spreaders, Line grinders, plate compactors, asphalt rollers, and concrete saws, Crack sealers, tack distributors, and backpack blowers, Gas and electric-powered equipment, hand tools, and other equipment as required
Services and performs minor repairs on assigned equipment and machinery
Conducts inspections and prepares reports for maintenance and repair work on vehicles and equipment
Performs a wide variety of construction and street maintenance tasks under both routine and emergency conditions, including: Pavement maintenance and repair, Snow removal operations, Patching and resurfacing roadways, Building and setting concrete forms, Pouring, finishing, and repairing concrete structures such as curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and culverts
Performs all work safely and in compliance with City standards and regulations
Operates City vehicles and equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Maintains a valid CDL Class A license and a safe driving record
Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Street Technician II-IV may serve as a lead worker over a small group of employees by: Organizing and coordinating projects, Training and mentoring staff, Providing feedback on performance and work quality
May perform painting, carpentry, and masonry work
May be required to perform duties from other primary assignment areas, including but not limited to, traffic signs and markings, and Utilities Operations (water distribution and wastewater collection)
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or GED
Experience in safe operation of tools, equipment, and light vehicles
Experience in construction/maintenance and repair work
Possess a valid driver's license, provide proof of a safe driving record, and maintain a safe driving record for continued employment
Ability to obtain and maintain Commercial Driver License Class A within 90 days of employment (training provided by City of Westminster)
Preferred
Previous work experience in Street Maintenance and the operation of related equipment
Two (2) or more years of experience in the construction/maintenance trades and/or street maintenance
Previous experience with CDL driving and/or commercial snow removal
