Responsibilities
Lead the structural design for all project types, including complex bridge designs
Lead the planning and schematic/geometric layout of new structures
Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate
Prepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculations
Lead or perform on-site inspection, analysis, and condition assessment of existing structures
Prepare cost estimates, perform life cycle cost analysis and load rating calculations
Perform construction administration functions including site visits, review of shop drawings and answering field related inquiries
Supervise and direct staff engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines as well as scope and budget requirements
Assist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverables
Qualification
Required
10+ years progressively responsible relevant experience
MS in Civil Engineering – Structures track required
Licensed IL SE required
Proficient with Bentley's MicroStation® software required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians
Preferred
Bridge Inspection experience, including NBIS certification, preferred but not required
Prior experience with complex projects preferred
Experience with WisDOT preferred but not required
Experience with a variety of structural analysis software preferred
Experience with FEM preferred but not required
3D experience preferred but not required
