Responsibilities
Create lightweight processes that balance accountability with startup speed - no heavyweight methodologies
Maintain alignment between product and engineering, ensuring the team is working on the highest-impact projects and commitments are met
Be the go-to person for the engineering team - field questions, unblock people, and route requests to the right person so engineers can stay focused
Contribute directly to the codebase - backend Python work and GCP infrastructure
Support hiring efforts as we grow the engineering team
Qualification
Required
10+ years in engineering, with at least 3 of those in a leadership role (engineering manager, tech lead, or similar)
Hands-on backend engineering experience - Python required, Go is a plus
Infrastructure experience with GCP (or strong AWS/Azure experience with willingness to learn GCP)
Enthusiastic about AI-assisted development - you're already using tools like Claude Code, Copilot, or similar to write, review, and understand code
Comfortable in ambiguous environments - you'll help shape how we work, not inherit a playbook
Strong written communication - we're remote and async-first
Startup mentality - resourceful, scrappy, comfortable with uncertainty
Preferred
Experience at early-stage startups (Series A-B)
Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure
Healthcare or pharma industry experience
Experience building processes from scratch rather than inheriting them
