Business Development Manager (Labor & Employment)
Ambition is assisting a global Am Law top 50 firm in their search for a Business Development Manager for their Labor & Employment practice. The role involves developing client development strategies, managing business opportunities, and collaborating with attorneys to enhance the practice's market position.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute business development strategies for the Labor & Employment practice in alignment with firmwide goals and priorities
Identify and analyze new business opportunities, client growth areas, and cross-selling initiatives across practices and industries
Partner with attorneys to create, implement, and monitor individual business development plans
Lead and manage client targeting initiatives, including prospect identification, pursuit tracking, and reporting
Partner with the Competitive Intelligence team to research clients, competitors, and market developments to uncover new opportunities and enhance client service
Oversee the preparation of high-quality pitches, RFP responses, and presentations that clearly articulate the strengths of the L&E practice
Collaborate with BD and Marketing colleagues to develop and maintain compelling collateral, including practice descriptions, brochures, and capability decks
Manage client-facing events, webinars, and substantive programs, and coordinate sponsorships, conferences, and professional association involvement to enhance practice visibility
Support awards submissions, legal directory entries, and other high-profile marketing initiatives
Serve as a mentor and resource to junior BD team members, contributing to their professional development
Qualification
Required
Strong business development and marketing experience from a law firm or professional services environment
Preferred
Prior exposure to Labor & Employment, workplace investigations, employment litigation, or labor relations would be especially valuable
