Responsibilities
Revenue & COGS: SaaS revenue recognition and track Cost of Goods Sold to provide accurate gross margin reporting
Full-Cycle Billing & AP: Own the Accounts Receivable process (subscriptions, renewals, collections) and manage Accounts Payable to ensure vendors and partners are paid accurately and on time
Month-End Close: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
Commissions & Payroll: Calculate sales commissions and manage the end-to-end payroll process for a growing, distributed team
Financial Integrity: Maintain the General Ledger and ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows, particularly in billing and expense management, as we scale
Qualification
Required
2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with 2+ years in a high-growth software or SaaS startup
Deep understanding of GAAP, specifically revenue recognition for software subscriptions
You find the $0.01 variance in a bank rec and won't rest until the balance sheet is pristine
Proficiency with modern accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Bill.com) and payroll/HRIS platforms (e.g., Gusto)
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivots, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and complex modeling are second nature to you)
Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance teammates (like explaining a commission calculation to an AE)
