Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle payroll processing for multiple U.S. entities across several states
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including payroll taxes, garnishments, and wage and hour requirements
Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and variance analysis in partnership with Finance
Maintain, document, and continuously improve payroll processes and internal controls
Partner with HR on employee lifecycle changes impacting payroll, including new hires, terminations, promotions, bonuses, and benefits deductions
Serve as the primary escalation point for payroll-related inquiries from employees and managers
Manage payroll system configurations, testing, and updates in coordination with HRIS/payroll vendors (Paycor experience preferred)
Prepare payroll reports and metrics for leadership and audit purposes
Ensure accurate year-end payroll processing, including W-2s and required filings
Lead, mentor, and support payroll team members, as applicable

Required

7–10+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll environments
Experience supporting multiple legal entities or complex organizational structures
Strong working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws
Proficiency with payroll and HRIS systems
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Process-driven mindset with a focus on standardization and continuous improvement
Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Prior experience in a payroll leadership or manager-level role
Paycor experience
Proficiency with payroll and HRIS systems (Paycor strongly preferred)
