Vice President of Retail Operations/ COO
Stu's Home Improvement Outlet is a high-volume liquidation retailer seeking a Vice President of Retail Operations & Growth/ COO to lead revenue growth and operational expansion. The role involves driving sales execution, managing inventory strategies, and overseeing e-commerce and marketing efforts to support the company's multi-state expansion plans.
Responsibilities
Own daily, weekly, and monthly revenue performance
Drive urgency, closing, and follow-up discipline on the sales floor
Train and coach salespeople hands-on, not from an office
Enforce KPIs including close rate, average ticket, traffic, and follow-up
Personally step in to close deals when needed
Source inventory through liquidation channels, truckloads, pallets, overstock, and scratch-and-dent programs
Evaluate buys based on landed cost, margin, turn speed, and recovery
Build and manage vendor and broker relationships
Control inventory aging and dead stock
Create a repeatable sourcing playbook for future locations
Build and enforce pricing formulas (MSRP vs landed cost, damage tiering, time-on-floor)
Implement planned markdown schedules
Balance margin and velocity to maximize cash flow
Train staff to sell value, not discounts
Oversee execution of paid ads, Facebook Marketplace, promotions, and sales events
Align marketing with inventory strategy and pricing
Kill campaigns that don’t produce revenue
Ensure marketing drives traffic, conversions, and sales — not vanity metrics
Lead growth of Shopify and marketplace sales
Align online pricing and inventory flow with in-store operations
Improve listings, merchandising, and conversion
Build systems so online sales scale with volume
Hire, train, and performance-manage sales staff and supervisors
Build onboarding and ongoing sales training programs
Hold teams accountable to activity and results
Identify and develop Store Managers for expansion
Own store-level P&L performance
Build SOPs and systems that scale beyond one location
Help design a 'Store-in-a-Box' model for future locations
Prepare the business for multi-state rollout and leadership replication
Qualification
Required
Proven operator from a sales-driven retail organization
Personally increased revenue, not just managed teams
Deep understanding of sourcing, pricing math, sales execution, and marketing
Comfortable with accountability, KPIs, and tough decisions
Wants to help build a 10× business over the next 5 years
