The University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking an Outreach Coordinator for the Southwest Missouri Research, Extension and Education Center. This role involves producing and coordinating training curriculum and overseeing educational programs while collaborating with various stakeholders and researchers to enhance outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

In coordination with REEC Directors and other Outreach Coordinators, develop, implement, and track a statewide outreach plan each fiscal year which includes clearly defined messages, target audiences. types and modes of communication techniques and report results weekly to REEC Director or designee
Assists stakeholders and tailor outreach to meet the needs of producers and how to clearly and concisely communicate. Serve as a specialist for outreach to explain NRCS programs and policies for target audiences
Prepare and analyze demographic data for the REEC to gain a greater understanding of the different target audiences that could be potentially reached throughout. Work to foster improved relationships with audiences by identifying and nurturing key liaisons to create a network of spokespersons throughout the REEC. Translate technical NRCS language into text and instructions that is understandable to a wide audience. This includes eligibility requirements for program participation and application procedures. Farm Bill program rules and requirements, etc
Collaborate and work with researchers at the University of Missouri on drainage water management, water quality and soil health as affected by climate smart agriculture practices. This may involve travel to various research site locations, work in outdoor conditions, and use of various farm or research equipment
Assist in the development of specialized publications, talking points, presentations. and other communication materials to target the needs and priorities of individualized audiences throughout the REEC. Provide feedback, analysis. and poten1ial solutions to identify and understand public concerns, misconceptions, barriers, etc. which can lead to a greater awareness of Conservation practice assistance
Coordinate with University, and NRCS Staff to prepare appropriate outreach materials and products, including but not limited to fact sheets, flyers, PowerPoint presentations. exhibits, brochures. video productions, talking points, etc
Assists University Communications and NRCS Public affairs staff in publishing landowner success stories, feature articles, program related news releases, and other written communication in a variety of mediums, including but not limited to magazines, newspapers, partner newsletters/websites, etc
Promote and maintain working relationship with organizations, agencies, and representatives or the media to provide outreach information, data, and program related information to their constituents. Identify events, functions, meetings, and venues where the REEC can promote services, programs, and assistance to target audiences
Educates, coordinates, and communicates through products, training, meetings, one-on-one consultation, and outreach tools to targeted audiences in an effort to achieve understanding, acceptance, and ultimately greater trust and support of Conservation practices Coordinate. This may involve travel to various research site locations, work in outdoor conditions, and use of various farm or research equipment

Required

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred

Background in Agriculture is preferred
Experience with the US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) conservation practices desired but not required
