Laboratory Manager I- Joglekar Lab
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Laboratory Manager I to oversee the operations of the Joglekar Lab. This role involves managing laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing support for various scientific experiments.

Responsibilities
Manages day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices
Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories
Collaborates on routine projects and procedures
Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions
Performs cellular and molecular immunology experiments; assisting lab members in performing experiments; keeping a track of inventory, stocks; ordering and purchasing supplies; maintaining equipment and laboratory space
Organize the equipment and wet lab space devoted to these projects
Maintain mouse colonies and perform genotyping
Perform molecular, cell biological and biochemical experiments
Provide experimental assistance and scientific advice to lab members as well as scientific collaborators
Maintain accurate records of laboratory collection of plasmids, cell lines and antibodies
Responsible for all safety, compliance of regulations for radiation use, laboratory safety, chemical issues and animal protocols
Directs daily laboratory operations of a laboratory, including conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control
Develops moderately complex projects and procedures at an independent level
Researches and evaluates new products and equipment; orders and repairs specialized and routine equipment as needed
Maintains and adapts scientific equipment for experimental needs of the department
Troubleshoots, installs, and adapts electronic devices and other samples for research investigations
Confers with researchers and faculty concerning research needs and methods
Prepares budget requests and manages approved budget, as needed
Prepares and analyzes data; keeps accurate and timely data logbooks; maintains databases
Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations for waste disposal; acts as department safety
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
2 years of lab experience
Bachelor's in Biochemistry, microbiology or related fields
Extensive experience with various laboratory techniques
Ability to manage experimental work
Ability to manage day to day operations of the laboratory
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Familiar with OneDrive, OneNote, and cloud-based shared spreadsheet platforms
Ability to sit/stand at a laboratory bench for extended periods of time
Ability to move heavy boxes or equipment occasionally
Compliance with all applicable regulations for waste disposal
Acts as department safety officer
