Lab Technician
Bodycote is the world’s largest provider of thermal processing services, employing highly skilled staff including engineers, scientists, and technicians. The Lab Technician will perform essential job functions associated with final inspection on coated parts from thermal spray processes to meet customer specifications under the direction of the Lab Manager.

Responsibilities
Manage the workflow and track analysis status for all incoming samples to ensure quick turnaround
Review tests needed to be performed on the part of the job folder
Perform a visual inspection on the parts needed before testing
Perform appropriate lab testing according to the job folder, such as sample sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, hardness, tensile, and microstructure evaluation
Follow in-process inspection procedures as needed to verify current operation meets customer and technical plan requirements
Record and sign off on all applicable data defined in the job folder
Report results of all tests to the Lab Manager/Quality Manager
Assist the Lab Manager in developing processes that will improve operations
Obtain GE Central Coatings Lab Certification
Participate in lab audits (Internal and NADCAP)
Maintain clean lab space via 6S principles
Observe all Environment, Health, and Safety Policy requirements
Keeping the work area neat and orderly at all times
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Disposal of waste per safety standards
Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position
This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage
Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism
Qualification
Required
This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders
Education – High school diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated organization and documentation skills
Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an office/industrial environment
Manual dexterity to perform detailed data entry functions
Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc
Ability to hear in person and via phone
Preferred
GE Central Coatings Lab Certification preferred
Experience in thermal spray operations preferred
