Responsibilities

Provide genomics support research services to aid virology research, utilizing specialized skills in DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and analysis
Operate sequencing equipment and perform genomics data analysis
Conduct experimental tasks within biocontainment facilities and BSL-2 research laboratories
Maintain accurate inventory of specimens, reagents, and supplies
Manage laboratory inventory, submit purchase requests, and oversee laboratory resources
Maintain comprehensive laboratory research documentation, including notebooks
Execute genomics and sequencing research as directed
Operate sequencing platforms, including Illumina and Oxford Nanopore
Perform genomics data analysis and bioinformatics tasks
Ensure proper research documentation and efficient data management
Maintain reagent and material inventories for the laboratory
Submit purchase requests for necessary laboratory supplies
Assist with manuscript and report writing as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree (B.S. or higher) in molecular biology, virology, genomics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
Minimum 3 years' laboratory research experience
Experience with DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and analysis
Ability to operate sequencing equipment and perform genomics data analysis
Ability to conduct experimental tasks within biocontainment facilities and BSL-2 research laboratories
Ability to maintain accurate inventory of specimens, reagents, and supplies
Ability to manage laboratory inventory, submit purchase requests, and oversee laboratory resources
Ability to maintain comprehensive laboratory research documentation, including notebooks
Ability to execute genomics and sequencing research as directed
Ability to operate sequencing platforms, including Illumina and Oxford Nanopore
Ability to ensure proper research documentation and efficient data management
Ability to maintain reagent and material inventories for the laboratory
Ability to assist with manuscript and report writing as needed

Preferred

Minimum 3 years' laboratory research experience (genomics experience preferred)
Previous recent experience working in BSL-3 or BSL-4 laboratories is preferred
Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore) and genomics data analysis preferred
