DAF FIAR Consultant
Kearney & Company is seeking a DAF FIAR Support Consultant to join their growing team. The role involves overseeing audit-remediation initiatives, financial reporting functions, and advanced data-analytics projects while ensuring compliance with federal financial-reporting requirements.

Responsibilities
Serve as a leader responsible for overseeing audit‑remediation initiatives, key financial‑reporting functions, or advanced data‑analytics projects, based on organizational priorities
Lead execution of the day-to-day accounting research and analysis activities of the engagement
Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of Federal Government’s financial and management responsibilities
Draft and preparing project deliverables Prepare and reviewing financial statements and footnotes
Perform reconciliations and other financial analyses
Perform risk assessments in accordance with OMB Circular A-123 and the FIAR Guidance
Identify the conditions and issues from maintaining generating financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Proposing new or revised accounting policies and procedures as well as implementation strategies to address audit findings
Audit‑Remediation Track: Directs the analysis of audit findings, validates corrective‑action plans, identifies root‑cause issues, and ensures full implementation and documentation of remediation steps
Coordinates with stakeholders and provides strategic guidance to strengthen compliance and internal controls
Financial‑Reporting Track: Oversee the development of sections of the Agency Financial Report (AFR), ensures adherence to federal financial‑reporting requirements, and guarantees the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial statements and disclosures
Data‑Analytics Track: Lead the design and execution of data‑driven solutions to improve financial‑management performance
Develop dashboards, predictive models, and trend analyses to support decision‑making, identify risks, and optimize resource allocation
Ensure data integrity, interprets complex datasets, and translates insights into actionable recommendations for leadership
Across all tracks, the Consultant manages progress reporting, sets priorities, and mentors staff to enhance organizational performance, improve financial‑management practices, and maintain strong governance standards
Qualification
Required
BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Business Administration with a major in Accounting
Minimum 4 years of accounting and auditing experience
CPA Required
Active Secret Clearance at minimum required
Ability to work on-site in Alexandria, VA and or Metro DC client sites up to 5 days a week
Experience in A-123 and internal controls, external financial statement audits, or related experience
Proficient skills in excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
Experience working with Federal and/or DoD clients
