NEOGOV is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Custodian to perform general labor, cleaning, and inspections required for the maintenance and upkeep of NCTD facilities. The role involves routine custodial maintenance, operating tools and equipment, and participating in project teams under supervision.

Responsibilities

Performs cleaning activities to buildings, sites, equipment, and assists Facilities Maintenance Technicians
Performs cleaning duties in accordance with the District Cleaning Plan and cleaning industry standards for each facility to include offices, industrial buildings, buses, trains, coaches, and public transit centers/stations, including but are not limited to the following: spill cleanup, biohazard cleaning, debris removal, sweeping and scrubbing concrete and asphalt, all types of floor care, pressure washing, window cleaning, etc
Moves and/or arranges furniture and equipment
Loads and unloads supplies onto or from trucks
Performs touch up and minor painting, removes graffiti
Performs non-technical inspections on District buildings, and sites
Organizes/maintains supplies and assists with proper care/storage of tools and equipment
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

High School diploma or GED required
Possess and maintain a California driver's license, Class C, with less than 6 points in the prior 36-month period and no DUI's in the prior 7-year period
Maintain compliance with the District's policy regarding Conflict of Interest and Ethics
Must be able to obtain and maintain annual access to Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton
Must be able to become RWP Qualified on NCTD owned railroad properties
Ability to safely use a wide variety of equipment and machinery common to custodial services including, but not limited to stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, wet/dry shop vacuums, carpet extractors (bonnet, dry, hydro extraction) cleaning machines, raiding flooring cleaning machines, squeegees, brushes, etc
Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and understand their interactions, danger signs and disposal methods
Knowledge of proper procedures for cleaning and maintaining a variety of floor surfaces including, but not limited to tile floors, carpeted floors, sealed concrete floors, and laminate floors
Ability to use proper PPE for hazards, including for cleaning areas with biohazards
Ability to pass forklift driver training program
Ability to drive and maneuver a trailer
Ability to read and understand department memorandums, equipment user manuals, and signs in the work environment and respond accordingly
Aptitude to respond to written and oral instructions in English and to legibly complete forms or logs using English sentences or phrases
Ability to work effectively with others
Lift equipment/objects up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
The employee must be able to hear, see, and communicate verbally to exchange information
The employee must be able to physically travel between District locations and other destinations, work in evenings when required, work in hazardous conditions, and negotiate a variety of different and irregular terrain as is typical along a railway right-of-way
The employee may be subject to fumes, odors, dusts, gases and chemicals
The employee must be able to walk, climb, balance, bend, carry, push, reach, sit, and stand
Ability to maintain balance in and around wet floors, roof tops, and other difficult work locations
Operate a motor vehicle (i.e., sedan, pickup truck, and 11/2-ton stake truck), scissor lift, articulated boom lift, and forklift safely
Safely use and operate hand, power tools, and maintenance equipment
Utilize motorized cleaning equipment and tools including buffers, sweepers, blowers, pressure washers, scrubbers, and vacuum
Ability to operate a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite programs
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a fax and scanner machine, copy machine, and telephone
Ability to carry and operate a mobile on-call device

Preferred

One (1) year prior facility custodial experience preferred
Technical school or apprenticeship program in related field is a plus
