Head of Client Finance Operations
Countabl is a boutique financial operations and planning firm helping early-stage and fast-growing companies gain financial clarity. The Head of Client Finance Operations will take primary ownership of client financial execution across accounting and FP&A, significantly reducing the workload of one of the founders while improving the quality and insight delivered to clients.
Responsibilities
Manage monthly close processes (QuickBooks Online)
Manage team on priorities and ensure deadlines are met
Design and maintain charts of accounts
Handle accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all client deliverables
Build and maintain cash flow forecasts (monthly and weekly)
Create scenario models for hiring, spend, and growth decisions
Analyze burn rate, runway, and liquidity risk
Use accounting data to continuously refine forecasts
Translate financials into clear, actionable insights for founders
Identify risks, trends, and opportunities early
Recommend actions—not just report numbers
Support clients in making smarter, more confident financial decisions
Lead recurring client meetings
Serve as the primary financial point of contact for assigned clients
Communicate clearly with non-financial stakeholders
Handle urgent requests calmly and independently
Help refine templates, models, and workflows
Contribute to standardizing Countabl’s methodology
Support documentation and internal best practices
Mentor junior team members as we grow
Qualification
Required
7–12+ years of experience in accounting, FP&A, or financial advisory roles
Deep expertise in QuickBooks Online
Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
Experience managing multiple clients or business units
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Preferred
Experience in an outsourced CFO, advisory, or startup environment
SaaS, productized services, or early-stage company exposure
Experience building forecasts from scratch
Comfort working in a small, high-trust team
