Business Analyst (TEMP)
Michigan Medicine is dedicated to improving health through education, patient care, community service, and research. The Employee Safety Data Analyst will lead the collection, analysis, and visualization of safety data, supporting hospital-wide safety initiatives through data-driven insights.

Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance Smartsheet and Tableau dashboards to analyze compliance data and safety culture metrics
Create routine and ad hoc reports and provide recommendations based on data findings
Serve as the primary Smartsheet resource for the department, including troubleshooting, guidance, and best practices
Assist with technical issues related to data systems and perform data analysis as needed
Work with internal departments to improve the quality, consistency, and accuracy of safety data reporting
Manage projects focused on improving hospital safety, including tracking progress and outcomes
Automate elements of root cause analysis to improve efficiency and consistency in safety investigations
Support safety culture and compliance initiatives by translating data into actionable insights
Collect, organize, and maintain safety equipment and room records using GIS data and through physical walkthroughs of hospital facilities
Ensure accuracy and integrity of safety-related records across multiple systems
Follow Michigan Medicine policies related to data privacy, confidentiality, and governance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a science-related field such as public health, health sciences, environmental science, biology, or a related discipline
Four or more years of data analysis experience
One to two years of experience in safety, occupational health, healthcare operations, or a related setting
One to two years of experience using Smartsheet or similar data and reporting tools
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Experience working in a healthcare or academic medical center environment
Familiarity with safety culture assessments, compliance monitoring, or incident reporting systems
Experience working with GIS data or asset management records
Experience with automation tools or process improvement initiatives
Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams
Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and safety requirements, such as The Joint Commission accreditation and certification standards, fire and life safety regulations, hazardous drug handling requirements, and occupational safety standards
