Responsibilities

There are four major areas of unit support: Aircraft Avionics (HC-130J); Operations support; Mission systems compatibility; Applications and Processes
Aircraft Avionics Support: Provide technical expertise for existing T-1 (temporary) and permanent modifications and other non-standard aircraft/mission systems. Provide technical and engineering services for upgrades and integration of block cycle updates. Conduct training for aircrew and maintenance personnel as required. Perform field level diagnostics and repair components, as necessary. Update existing software and load new versions for all T-1 systems and computers. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair/replace SACU computers. Perform preflight operational systems checks. Support all launch and recovery operations. Configure system components for AOR operations and interfaces. Handle COMSEC material and ensure proper codes are available for missions
Operations Support: Assist home station and deployed units with execution of immediate C4I solutions for “time critical” process and information needs in AOR. Manage and ensure data link feeds (Improved Many on Many [IMOM], Falcon View [FVW], WINTAK, AFTRS-R, SADL, MUOS, L16). Set up ROC/TOC for datalink and radio interfaces. Create interface of SATCOM network to Joint Personnel Recovery Center, and other control entities. Configure gateway interface for Data Link networks. Work with Intel, aircrew, and ROC personnel in developing mission requests, tasking, planning, and execution services. Assist aircrew in mission planning and preparing for daily flight plans/missions. Maintain and update monthly FVW data files (ECHUM, DAFIF, maps, imagery, etc.)
In addition to normal flying support duties as described above to maintain operational systems for immediate contingency response, meet crew proficiency requirements, training, and sustainment the team will provide direct interface with Weapons and Tactics (W&T), Planning and Intelligence Sections in the development of mission requests, tasking, planning, and execution services for training and contingency operations. Provide aircrew training for SADL, HPW, SACU computer features, operational concepts, and cryptographic loading procedures
Mission Systems Compatibility: Provide immediate solutions for C4I systems compatibility with established Mission Planning Environment (MPE) and Aircraft Weapons Electronics (AWE) standards. Maintain digital map and imagery databases for all relevant AORs. Prepare mission system equipment for deployment packages. Maintain and update: threat files; EOB data; IBSSO, JICO and OPTASKLINK configurations for local flying and for contingency operations in various AORs
Applications and Processes: Analyze CSAR unit processes for effective utilization of C4I tools and implement new procedures to accomplish PR core requirements. Apply best solutions from systems currently utilized to create better, faster, and new effects and determine best tools to enable CSAR mission workflow. Tailor mission focused, on site, applications and training to high turnover staff, operators, and intelligence personnel

Must have an associate degree and advanced training from a technical trade school or military technical school and/or a minimum of 10 years of aircraft avionics work experience
Minimum of 4 years' experience with Aircraft/Weapons System Modification process
Minimum of 4 years' experience configuring/maintaining/operating various tactical communication networks/equipment including SADL, SATCOM radios, COMSEC related systems
Minimum of 4 years' experience using, configuring, and maintaining various mission planning tools and software suites to include Improved Many on Many (IMOM), Falcon View (FVW), and Tactical Radio Extension Application (TRAX)
Must have a current Government SECRET security clearance
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Prolonged periods standing/working in environment with aircraft noise
Occasional requirement to fly on HC-130J aircraft
Must be able to lift 15 pounds numerous times throughout the workday
Extensive travel to Area of Operations (AOR) may be required

Preferred

Prior HC-130J intelligence, communications, and/or avionics career field background desired
Prior expeditionary/deployed experience in an aircraft avionics field is desired
General level understanding of HC-130J systems knowledge and expertise, including knowledge of the relevant AF TOs desired
General level understanding of USAF CSAR TTPs including knowledge of relevant AFTTP 3.1 and 3.3 volumes desired
Must have previous experience working in a high-functioning team in an avionics environment
Able to effectively communicate with senior leaders and communicate contract parameters
General level of experience with avionics project scheduling and maintenance requirements desired
