Park Maintenance Supervisor - Parks (Idyllwild)
The County of Riverside is seeking a Park Maintenance Supervisor - Parks to manage the operations and maintenance of Idyllwild Regional Park and surrounding areas. Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, assign, supervise, evaluate and participate in the work of staff engaged in the maintenance of a park area; train subordinate personnel in departmental practices, policies, and procedures; perform, and direct staff in the performance of minor construction, maintenance, and repair of park structures, facilities, and grounds
Assist in reviewing plans and specifications for park site projects, recommend modifications, and provide technical guidance to staff to ensure plan conformance
Participate in hiring, promoting, disciplining, and terminating subordinate personnel
Answer public inquiries, forwarding complaints or issues to supervisor; provide assistance in emergency situations
Inspect park areas to evaluate existing conditions, determine areas needing maintenance or improvement work, and identify more efficient operational procedures, or correctional actions needed to minimize safety hazards
Discuss work projects with supervisor and lead workers; provide information on anticipated equipment, supply and personnel needs for budget purposes
Prepare reports and maintain accurate records on materials, equipment, and personnel usage; request equipment and supplies; inform supervisor on progress of work
Qualification
Required
Four years of performing skilled and semi-skilled building and ground maintenance work which includes two years in a park or closely related setting
Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license is required at the time of application
The incumbent must obtain a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certificate and a Qualified Applicator License (QAL) within 12 months of hire
Knowledge of park policies and procedures; principles of supervision; the methods, tools, and materials used in park maintenance and construction work; groundskeeping and the care and propagation of plants, ground cover, shrubs, and trees; procedures and safety techniques used in performing maintenance and minor construction projects
Ability to identify needed repairs or maintenance work; plan, supervise, and inspect the work of park staff; train and motivate staff members in all phases of park maintenance work, safety techniques, and courteous dealing with the public; prepare cost and material estimates, requisitions, and reports; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships
Preferred
Experience in park or open-space environments
Demonstrated leadership skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and centralized maintenance management software (CMMS), ticketing systems, or related software
A strong maintenance background and experience operating heavy equipment

MEDICAL/DENTAL/VISION INSURANCE: A choice of different medical, dental and visions plan are available to elect. The County provides a Flexible Benefit Credit contribution as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding to contribute towards the cost of these plans.
MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT: County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual): 0 < 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days) 4 < 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days) 10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days) Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance).
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Employees contribute to State Disability Insurance (SDI), which provides wage replacement benefits for individuals who are unable to work due to non-work-related illness, injury, or pregnancy. SDI also includes Paid Family Leave Benefits. The wage replacement rate is determined by current law, offering 60-70% of the wages earned during the SDI eligibility period.
Additionally, employees receive employer-paid Long-Term Disability Benefits, which cover 66.67% of pre-disability earnings, up to a maximum of $10,000 per month. There is a 365-day waiting period before these benefits become active. Employees may coordinate these benefits with other available leave balances to receive up to 100% of their regular pay.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.
