Senior Automation Engineer

Responsibilities
Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends
Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve quality to better meet client needs
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media
Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan
Create complex engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions
Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters
Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards
Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 15-20 years of experience with industrial automation projects; municipal water and waste water is a plus
Proficiency in Industrial Communications, Control Panel Design and PLC/HMI/SCADA software systems design experience
Skilled in Allen-Bradley and/or Modicon platforms
OT/IT Communications Infrastructure Design, Fieldbus networking design (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, etc), Copper/Fiber design, Wireless radio and Cellular design
Specify and install Computer Hardware, Virtualization, Networking, Server/Client configurations
Competency in integrating with on premise/cloud IT based systems
Understand and able to integrate Cybersecurity Design and Implementation
Ability to communicate effectively with management, technical and field personnel - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to interact with customers and clients in a positive and professional manner
Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time to job sites throughout the U.S. and occasional travel to Canada
Preferred
Professional Engineering (PE) license would be beneficial
Experience with Ignition, I-Fix SCADA platforms is a plus
