Web and UX Designer, Associate

Responsibilities

Ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints
Creating functional design solutions that meet user needs and business requirements
Participating in design reviews, planning, and design development processes
Managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards
Collaborating closely with technical experts, subject matter experts, public outreach and marketing teams, public affairs content leads, and other stakeholders throughout the design and development process
Designing responsive web pages that function seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
Understanding and executing design direction from Lead Web Designer and Visual Communications Manager
Developing wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for stakeholder review and developer handoff in Figma
Building component-based web pages in enterprise Content Management System according to SOPs and best practices
Reviewing page designs for accuracy and functionality in QA environment across different platforms and browsers
Assisting with designing digital marketing campaign pieces including ads and social media posts
Applying best practices in design production to build design files in industry-standard software
Maintaining regular, clear communication with project stakeholders on project progress, issues, questions, timelines, deliverables, and processes
Collaborating with Lead Web Designer on creating and maintaining documentation for UX visual design guidelines including contrast ratios, readability, and interactivity best practices
Collaborating with Lead Web Designer and Front End Developer on creating and maintaining design documentation and style guides for development teams
Assisting with outlining business and functional requirements
Coordinating and tracking input and approvals

Required

Bachelor's degree in web, graphic, or multimedia design
One to three years of recent experience
Ability to translate project needs and user requirements into effective visual solutions
Effectively collaborate across disciplines to find solutions for diverse needs and goals within limitations of budget amounts, funding strings, established policies, and legislative mandates
Merge technical skill and critical and strategic thinking to solve creative visual problems
Collaborating across disciplines by facilitating discussions between marketing, development, content, subject matter experts, and project teams to ensure everyone understands the design direction and their role in implementation
Manage expectations by clearly explaining project timelines, revision processes, and scope limitations
Skillfully handling feedback, including diplomatically pushing back on suggestions that would harm usability or brand consistency while finding compromise solutions
Adjusting and adapting communication style and language based on the audience
Maintaining patience and diplomacy throughout the process, including handling multiple rounds of revisions, conflicting feedback, and tight deadlines while maintaining professional relationships and project momentum
Strong understanding of fundamental design theory and principles, with an emphasis on visual hierarchy, composition, typography, and color theory
Understanding of responsive design, including practical experience in creating adaptive layouts for different screen sizes and orientations
Understanding of Information Architecture including ability to organize content logically for digital consumption, understanding navigation patterns, and creating intuitive user flows
Knowledge of production best practices of images, PDFs, and presentations to optimize quality and performance
Maintaining visual identity across all touchpoints while adapting to different medium requirements
Create organized and complete files by following conventions for folder structures, naming conventions, and version control that allow for efficient collaboration and future updates

Preferred

Previous experience designing, building, and updating content in enterprise content management systems
Project experience with creating responsive design across multiple platforms
Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams
Experience with in-house design team focus and functions, including focus on deep brand knowledge, long-term project development, and cross-functional collaboration
