Responsibilities
Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Production, and Raw Materials teams to meet seasonal and calendar deadlines without compromising quality or design intent
Lead fittings on live models for designated product categories (Tops, Dresses, Skirts)
Provide expert technical guidance to refine patterns, adjust proportions, and ensure garment drape and balance
Prepare and maintain comprehensive tech packs, including detailed fit comments, sketches/photos, and all necessary specifications
Provide clear, solution-oriented direction to overseas partners and factories to drive consistent quality, resolve technical challenges, and support on-time delivery
Collaborate with domestic patternmakers and factories to troubleshoot technical issues, ensure accurate execution, and communicate precise fit and construction corrections
Allocate and oversee freelance patternmaker and technical designer workload
Analyze product returns, customer feedback, and fit issues to continually improve garment performance
Track and manage workflow, reviewing and sharing style status with the Production team on a weekly basis
Maintain the pattern/block library and ensure consistent and effective utilization across seasons
Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of three direct reports, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
Oversee the maintenance and continual refinement of the company’s standard grading, partnering with the whole Technical Design team to support fit consistency and brand standards
Proactively troubleshoot challenges related to pattern, fit, and fabric behavior by anticipating tolerance, drape, or construction issues, validating solutions and guiding factories toward best-practice execution
Partner with the Senior Director on special projects within the soft wovens category as needed
Qualification
Required
12+ years of experience as a Womenswear Technical Designer with a strong background in Soft Wovens
Demonstrated ability to lead live-model fittings with precision and expertise
Strong knowledge of innovative garment construction methods
Advanced understanding of patternmaking, draping, and grading
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey fit and construction corrections to both overseas and domestic partners
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with all cross-functional teams
Ability to oversee a complex category while maintaining focus on product quality and seasonal deliverables
Highly organized, flexible, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite, and PLM systems
Preferred
Experience with Gerber is a plus
