Planning Intern (Graduate Student)
The City of Emeryville is a center of Art and Innovation, seeking a Planning Intern to assist in the Planning Division. The role involves collecting and preparing data for various planning projects, conducting field work, and providing public information on land use and zoning.

Responsibilities
Assisting staff in collecting and preparing data for various planning projects
Conducting field work, search land records, preparing maps, sketches, renderings of limited complexity
Conducts basic office functions as needed including data entry, file management, and customer service
Creating GIS data and maps for internal and external use
Updating the website
File organization
Implementing the General Plan, Housing Element, and Active Transportation Plan
Providing the public with information (as described above), and
Processing applications
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a graduate program or recent graduate of a master's program in city planning, public administration, public policy, business administration or economics
Availability to work a set schedule during the internship period (e.g., 12–20 hours per week). Schedule can be modified at the start of each semester and during the summer
Interest in community development, economic development, housing policy, urban planning, or public administration
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to conduct basic research and summarize findings clearly and concisely
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Acrobat Adobe and Canva; familiarity with data management and analysis applications
Proficienty in ArcGIS Online/Pro, Creative Suite, graphic design and data visualization
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to engage professionally with staff, community members, and external stakeholders
