Private Equity Acquisition Associate (Quality of Earnings)

Main Street Auto is seeking a Private Equity Acquisition Associate to conduct financial modeling and analysis while supporting the company's acquisition and financing strategy. Responsibilities

Conduct rigorous financial modeling and analysis, review and analyze operational data and financial statements, and prepare reports and investment memoranda and other materials for the company’s senior leadership
Assist with the execution of the company’s acquisition and financing strategy through each stage of the deal lifecycle, including sourcing, underwriting, diligence, and post-acquisition integration
Analyze earnings and cash flows on a reported and pro forma basis, identify key business and operational drivers of performance, conduct due diligence on acquisition targets, assist with the quality-of-earnings analysis, and create forecasts and analysis of investment risks and merits
Actively assess the pipeline of deals sourced by our team of business development professionals across the country
Gather, validate, and analyze important data regarding each acquisition target, its real estate, and the competitive landscape in the area
Assist with the continuous improvement of the company’s acquisition and post-merger integration process
Ensure proper application of revenue recognition policies and identify any premature or inflated revenue
Identify and adjust for one-time items (e.g., gains or losses) that distort true earnings
Adjust EBITDA for non-operational items to assess core profitability
Ensure earnings are backed by strong, consistent cash flows
Review changes in working capital to assess liquidity and earnings sustainability
Ensure asset depreciation/amortization policies reflect actual usage
Review accounting estimates and policies for consistency and reasonableness
Evaluate tax provisions and strategies that may impact reported earnings
Determine if earnings are sustainable or driven by one-time events
Detect potential earnings manipulation or fraud
Provide a clear, detailed report on earnings quality, including adjustments and findings
Present findings to stakeholders in an actionable and transparent manner

Required

Extraordinary financial modeling skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Suite
Mastery of three statement financial models
B.A. or B.S., preferably with a major or specialization in finance, accounting, or a related field
At least 1–3 years of financial modeling and analysis experience in investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory services, business valuation services, commercial banking, public accounting, and/or a related role
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and written and verbal communication skills; excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential errors, discrepancies, and gaps in data; and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred

Experience or proficiency with CRM system HubSpot or any similar data management program
