Responsibilities
Responsible for background investigation file maintenance, including retrieving all required data for keying into the Security & Background Investigation database
Responsible for auditing, distributing, retrieving, and filing investigation files
Maintains employee background investigation files
Files information that is to be contained in folders ensuring that it is filed in a timely manner and in chronological order
Codes and keys tracking information within the section and final adjudication information into the database
Provides clerical and administrative support for the Security Section as necessary
Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated National Security Clearance at all times. Failure to obtain/maintain this clearance may result in the person being selected being reassigned to their former position or a position similar to the position they held prior to selection

Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated National Security Clearance at all times
Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position
Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level
Experience in performing a variety of administrative support duties, such as preparing correspondence and reports, copying and filing documents, auditing files, and appropriate disposal of sensitive documents
Experience in retrieving data, coding, and keying tracking information into a database and auditing actions for accuracy
Experience in initiating requests for information, tracking and monitoring suspense dates, and ensuring information received is in compliance with organizational procedures
Experience responding to routine requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information readily available from files

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
