Economic Development & Housing Intern
The City of Emeryville is a center of Art and Innovation nestled between Oakland and Berkeley, and they are seeking an Economic Development & Housing Intern. This paid internship is designed for undergraduate students or recent graduates and involves supporting the Economic Development and Housing Division with research, data analysis, and administrative tasks related to housing and community development.

Responsibilities
Conduct research, analysis, and summarize literature on different policy topics related to housing programs, economic development initiatives, and community planning efforts
Collect, organize, and analyze data related to housing production, affordability, business activity, and demographic trends
Support the preparation of reports, staff memos, presentations, and informational materials for City Council, advisory boards, and commissions
Assist with community outreach efforts, including preparing outreach materials, helping coordinate meetings or workshops, and summarizing public feedback
Provide support for business assistance programs, including maintaining databases, tracking program metrics, and responding to general inquiries
Prepare and manage the visual art contracts, coordinate with artists and property manager owners, as needed, and assist in developing marketing materials for visual art events
Assist with grant-related tasks such as research, data compilation, and progress reporting
Research, design, prepare, and update a variety of reports and informational materials including, but not limited to, department webpages, social media platforms, community event information, newsletters, or program/project promotional and informational materials
Perform general administrative support tasks, including filing, document management, and meeting notes
Complete special projects as assigned that align with the intern’s academic interests and departmental needs
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, preferably majoring in urban planning, public policy, economics, sociology, political science, business, or a related field
Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework
Availability to work a set schedule during the internship period (e.g., 12–20 hours per week). Schedule can be modified at the start of each semester and during the summer
Preferred
Recent college graduate working on a secondary degree or professional certification related to housing, economic development, planning, public administration or public policy
Experience with data analysis, surveys, or community engagement
Familiarity with municipal government or nonprofit
