Fluid Systems Engineer

Airline Hydraulics Corporation is seeking a Fluid Systems Engineer to bridge technical gaps throughout the sales and project completion processes. The role involves working on various hydraulic systems, providing technical support, and collaborating with multiple departments to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Work closely with sales or directly with the customer to gain an understanding of their hydraulic needs
Completion of estimates to include schematics, component selection, specification review and conceptual layouts
Provide documentation necessary to build and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, including but not limited to schematics, bills of material, general arrangement drawings, test procedures, etc
Review in detail customer-supplied specifications and supporting documentation
Analyzing requests, proposals, schematics, drawings, and other engineering documents to determine the technical integrity and feasibility of hydraulic systems
Design and/or assist in the design of hydraulic power units and fluid systems
Technical design and review of hydraulic schematics, drawings, and other Engineering documents relative to the design and fabrication of power units
Evaluate product data and design for conformance to customer requirements, written standards and specifications, and quality standards
Coordinate and prepare design reviews for customers
Coordinate and supervise testing in support of manufacturing
Support Fabrication Shop personnel in troubleshooting complex hydraulic systems
Create reports as needed
Work with other members of the fluid systems group in a team-oriented environment
Produce drawing documentation – schematics, general arrangement drawings, and test reports utilizing AutoCad 2D, Inventor 3D, and Excel
Become proficient in the use of Inventor as a tool for designing and documenting power units
Mentoring and training of other Fluid Systems Engineers
Provide product training as required
Other Engineering functions as needed

Required

Proficient 3D software skills, preferably with Inventor software
Ability to read hydraulic and/or pneumatic schematics
Fluid system conception, design, and estimating experience
Ability to understand and design low, medium, and high-pressure systems
Strong fabrication experience, preferably related to fluid systems and basic weldments
Project Management experience
Basic electrical knowledge
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Sales, and Production personnel
Must provide hydraulic technical support for sales and power unit shop personnel
Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
Degree in Engineering Science or a related field (equivalent field experience will be considered in place of a degree)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to estimate acquisition cost vs life cycle cost and associated tradeoffs for various design scenarios
Familiarity with standards such as Tier IV, ATEX, ABS, MSA, CE, NFPA, OSHA, ASTM etc
Required overnight travel to customers and branch locations on an as-required basis

Preferred

Familiarity with hydraulic products is a plus
Strong desire to become an expert in hydraulic systems and advance along the step proficiency program
