Responsibilities
Take complete mortgage applications over the phone with borrowers
Review online loan applications for accuracy and completeness
Interpret conventional, FHA, VA, and other mortgage guidelines to determine required documentation
Proactively request, collect, and follow up on borrower documentation
Cross-reference income, assets, liabilities, and credit against the loan application
Accurately calculate income (W-2, self-employed, variable income, etc.)
Identify red flags, missing items, and guideline concerns early in the process
Organize loan files clearly and logically for processing and underwriting
Prepare and present a concise opinion of the loan file to the Loan Officer
Maintain strong communication with borrowers, Loan Officers, and internal teams to keep files moving efficiently
Qualification
Required
Prior experience in mortgage underwriting, setup, loan analysis, or processing
Strong understanding of mortgage guidelines and documentation requirements
Comfortable taking loan applications over the phone
Proven experience calculating borrower income and reviewing supporting documentation
Excellent attention to detail and file organization skills
Ability to identify issues early and communicate them clearly
Strong time management and follow-through
Tech-savvy, with experience using loan origination systems and document management platforms
Preferred

A critical thinker who can form an educated opinion on a loan prior to underwriting
A team player who understands how their role impacts cycle times and borrower experience
Someone who values accuracy, structure, and clear communication
