Responsibilities
Monitors and maintains sampling equipment at industrial and sewer lines, creeks, streams, ponds, landfills, grease traps, spill sites, wastewater treatment plants, etc.; programs computerized sampling equipment to draw samples at designated intervals
Collects wastewater samples from sewer lines, restaurants, industrial facilities, or other sites; monitors and records pH and temperature levels of wastewater samples
Prepares industrial sampling data sheets to record sample source/location, time, pH, temperature, and other pertinent data
Labels wastewater samples with appropriate identifying data; transports samples to laboratory for testing; maintains chain of custody of collected samples
Operates various machinery, equipment and tools in performance of assigned duties, which may include a utility truck, computerized sampling equipment, pH meter, digital thermometer, DO meter, shovel, pick axe, mechanic tools, and other hand/power tools
Performs general repair/maintenance tasks necessary to maintain machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition such as repairing equipment, inspecting equipment, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, and cleaning work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment
Prepares and/or completes various forms, correspondence, reports, data sheets, logs, and other documents
Receives various forms, reports, chain of custody forms, maps, manuals, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate
Communicates via telephone and/or two-way radio; provides information; takes and relays messages; responds to requests for service and/or information from employees, officials, the public or other individuals
Communicates with supervisor, co-workers, 911 dispatchers, utility dispatchers, customers, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems
Provides assistance or backup coverage to other employees or departments as needed
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
One (1) year previous experience and/or training involving wastewater operations
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License
