Required

Minimum 5+ years (typical range 5–7 years)
Transmission / Distribution / Substation engineering standards
Owning, updating, and defending standards (not just using them)
Managing standards change processes end-to-end
Direct exposure to CPUC General Orders (e.g., GO 95, GO 128)
NERC compliance concepts (even if indirect)
Utility QA/QC, audits, or compliance-driven updates
Led or supported pilot programs (new equipment, tools, or systems)
Evaluated readiness for broader deployment
Coordinated SMEs, Ops, Maintenance, and Training
AutoCAD (especially for substation standard drawings)
SPIDA (pole loading)
AUD / DM or similar utility design tools
SAP or Master Data exposure = big plus
Experience presenting standards changes
Running Q&A sessions
Acting as a bridge between ASP, Ops, Field, and Planning
8–15 years in electric utility engineering
Transmission / Distribution / Substation focus
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
Standards development & governance
Technology pilots / pre-commercial equipment
Regulatory-driven engineering decisions
Cross-functional coordination
Comfortable with ambiguity
Strong judgment and risk assessment
Can “own” problems and create new approaches
