Field Operations Manager

Mountains West Ranches is a growing real estate development company seeking a qualified Field Operations Manager to lead their Road Crew team. This role involves managing daily field operations, overseeing road construction and maintenance, and providing hands-on leadership to crew members while ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of heavy equipment including dozers, graders, front-end loaders, excavators, and dump trucks
Perform earthmoving, grading, excavation, and road/pad construction during the land development process
Create new roads and pads on lots for sale, grade/maintain existing roads and pads per company and customer needs
Operate all equipment efficiently, safely, and for its intended purpose
Secure cargo for transport using appropriate restraints and methods
Move, load, and unload materials, supplies, and equipment as required
Perform minor service and maintenance on equipment as needed
Install culverts, street signs, and related infrastructure as needed
Perform other duties as required to support field operations and development projects
Lead and supervise a road crew consisting of operators and laborers
Assign daily tasks, set priorities, and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely
Train crew members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and company standards
Enforce safety regulations, job site standards, and proper work practices at all times
Monitor performance, provide feedback, and communicate expectations clearly
Coordinate with customers, Sales Team and company leadership to plan road and pad development
Meet with customers on-site as needed to review scope of work, timelines, and expectations
Collaborate with other departments and leaders to schedule work and allocate resources
Ensure jobs are completed within specified timelines and quality standards
Maintain clear communication with supervisors and leadership regarding progress, issues, and needs
Manage the equipment shop and oversee routine inspections, fueling, cleaning, and maintenance schedules
Ensure equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored
Track equipment condition and report repair needs or mechanical issues
Maintain accurate records related to equipment usage, maintenance, time worked, and materials used
Ensure tools, parts, and shop areas are organized and functional

Required

Prior heavy equipment operator experience required; leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of equipment maintenance
Ability to manage people, schedules, and job priorities effectively
Physical stamina to perform manual labor and operate heavy machinery for extended periods
Ability to lift 60–80 pounds without mechanical assistance
Sound understanding of safety regulations, safe work practices, and work procedures
Ability to take direction, lead independently, and be a self-starter
Ability to read and interpret plat maps, plans, and specifications
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in a high priority environment and adapt to changing priorities
Basic reading, writing, and math skills
Proficient in spoken and written English; Spanish is a plus
Ability to pass a background check and drug test
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record
