Responsibilities

Manage air quality projects, including scope development, client communication, scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing
Provide senior technical review and guidance for air permitting, emissions estimation, dispersion modeling, and regulatory interpretation
Prepare, review, and oversee high‑quality technical reports and deliverables
Lead complex, multi‑disciplinary proposal efforts and contribute to practice growth at regional, national, and international levels
Represent clients in negotiations and meetings with state and federal regulatory agencies
Participate in compliance audits and regulatory discussions to support client permitting and compliance strategies
Guide clients through air permitting pathways across multiple industrial sectors, including oil and gas, power, mining, landfills, and manufacturing
Mentor, coach, and train junior and mid‑level staff in air quality regulations, emissions calculations, dispersion modeling, and permitting strategies
Foster collaboration across technical disciplines to deliver integrated, future‑ready solutions
Calculate emissions for criteria pollutants, hazardous/toxic air pollutants, and greenhouse gases for permitting and modeling applications
Apply expert knowledge of New Source Review (NSR), New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), Title V, and MACT standards
Utilize EPA‑approved air modeling methods (e.g., AERMOD, CALPUFF) and prepare modeling inputs, visualizations, and other technical exhibits
Prepare air quality sections for environmental impact documents, including impact assessments and conformity evaluations
Develop and implement site‑specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)
Oversee cross‑functional project teams, including budget tracking, task execution, and quality assurance
Stay current with emerging environmental engineering technologies, tools, and regulatory updates
Uphold WSP’s standards for ethical decision‑making, safety, and quality

Required

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline
12+ years of relevant environmental engineering experience, with strong emphasis on air quality
Demonstrated understanding of federal and state air regulations, including PSD, NSR, and Title V
Proficiency with air dispersion modeling software (e.g., AERMOD, CALPUFF) and emissions calculation tools
Strong understanding of engineering principles and their application to environmental challenges
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and provide leadership with strict adherence to QA/QC standards
Highly proficient in technical writing, data analysis, predictive modeling, and software tools
Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities, applying data and technical judgment to deliver logical, cost‑effective solutions
Proven ability to coordinate subcontractors and ensure safe, efficient project execution
Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health, safety, and compliance policies
Ability to work flexible schedules aligned with project demands; occasional travel required

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license or able to obtain in one year
40‑Hour OSHA HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120) training
