Office Technician (Typing)- Central Services Captain
The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation is seeking an Office Technician to provide overall clerical support under the direction of the Captain, Central Services. The role involves typing complex correspondence, maintaining filing systems, and managing administrative tasks to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities
Type very complex and technical letters, memorandums and correspondence for Captain's Porch/Central Services Personnel i.e., Captain, Watch Commanders, Visiting, Yard
Independently prepare correspondence and relieve the Captain of a variety of administrative details
Type correspondence and memoranda for other Central Services staff
Complete duties as the Marriage Coordinator
Maintain a meticulous filing system to ensure deadlines are met
Prioritize all work assignments
Advise the Captain of daily functions within the unit
Update Post Orders and revise the Critical Worker list monthly
Maintain Bulletin Boards and ensure Declaration of Postings are completed and submitted in a timely fashion
Order and maintain office supplies for the entire unit
Maintain inventory of equipment and furniture
Call for repairs on any non-operational equipment
Maintain the unit timekeeping records and ensure these are completed accurately and submitted to the Personnel Office by the established due dates
Maintain Inmate Appeals Log for Central Services Division to ensure due process deadlines are met
Process key/chit requests routed to Central Services
Answer and screen all incoming calls
Pick up mail twice daily from the Administration Building, Captain's Porch and Captain’s office
Open, screen and distribute mail accordingly
Send faxes and xerox documents
Copy and file all unit material
Attend all meetings, training, and seminars as needed or required
Performs other related duties
Qualification
Required
Ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications
Obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed prior to being hired
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
If meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, include unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification
Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting
Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter
Applications received without an appropriate Proctored Typing Certificate will be rejected for being incomplete
